Streaming service Netflix in cooperation with the company Gaumont launched into production an animated series based on the popular comic book series “Usagi Youjimbo“. It is reported that adaptation of works Stan Sakai got the name Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles and it will be done in a three-dimensional style.
According to Variety, the animated series will not feature the anthropomorphic rabbit protagonist Miyamoto Usagi. Instead, his descendant Yuichi, who seeks to become a real samurai, will be in the center of the plot. In adventures, he will be accompanied by a number of new characters, such as the bounty hunter, ninja, pickpocket and lizard.
Stan Sakai, the author of the original comic strip, will act as an executive producer of adaptation.
Previously, Usagi the Samurai Rabbit has appeared on television several times – in the animated series about Ninja Turtles.
