In Russia, by 2023 it was planned to launch its analogue of Wikipedia. The project was to become an electronic version of the Great Russian Encyclopedia, about two billion rubles were allocated for it.
But now, according to data from the site of legal information, the interdepartmental working group that was involved in the initiative has been abolished. This team was responsible for collecting, preparing and processing materials for a nationwide scientific and educational interactive encyclopedic portal.
The reasons for the abrupt completion of the project have not yet been announced. However, it seems that they are very serious.
Note that the former general director of the Russian National Library, Alexander Visly, at one time stated that the Russian encyclopedia should become a full-fledged analogue and replacement of Wikipedia. At the same time, materials for electronic BDT were to be written by specialists.
