- Dusk Golem heard that Sony’s collaboration with Konami, which everyone is writing about now, was made possible by copyright holders wanting to resurrect the Silent Hill series. Konami was looking for developers capable of restarting the series, and it so happened that she came to Sony.
- The fact that the father of the Silent Hill franchise works at Sony Keiichiro Toyama. At the beginning of the 2000s he created a series Sirenand then switched to a colorful franchise Gravity rush. In recent years, Toyama wanted to return to the development of horror, but the idea of resurrecting SIREN did not attract Sony very much, since this brand did not become really cult and today is generally very niche.
- Sony was able to agree with Konami on the development of a restart of Silent Hill with the participation of Toyama and other veterans of the series, including composer Akira Yamaoka. At the same time, Sony also realized that in recent years, the franchise was clearly associated with the name of Hideo Kojima. Around P.T. there was a huge hype, and people still have not forgotten about the playable teaser Silent Hills.
- Against this backdrop, Sony tried to reconcile Hideo Kojima and Konami, with the scandal of parting in 2015.. As part of the partnership, the financing of both projects was initially discussed both by Sony and Konami (after all, Konami was initially looking for partners who could resurrect Silent Hill, and was ready to order someone to develop). But even if a possible deal for the game from Kojima breaks, he will make a new horror movie for Sony – with a budget more modest than Death Stranding and support for PlayStation VR.
