Review of the monitor Lenovo Q24i-10 | GameMAG

We often tell you about gaming monitors in all price categories, but today we will be talking about a device from a different league. Not so long ago, we received a monitor from the company LenovoQ24i-10… It is marketed as an inexpensive office solution for everyday work. We have tested it and are ready to tell you about it. The average price at the time of this writing was around 11 thousand rubles.

PACKAGING, SET, APPEARANCE AND CONNECTORS

The monitor comes in a heavy cardboard box with black and white printing and a plastic handle for easy transportation. The package opens from the side, like a casket, in the manner of an Xbox Series X box. Inside, the monitor is packed in textured foam, consisting of two parts. All the accessories are stowed in the top, and the display itself is located at the bottom.

The delivery set includes a dismountable leg (screws and an Allen key for assembly are available), accompanying documentation, a booklet for a visual quick assembly of the device, an HDMI cable, an external power supply, and a network cable.

The leg consists of two parts – a heavy rectangular platform-base, covered with a gray plastic body and with Lenono’s proprietary metal nameplate in the corner, and a bent silver metal tube. The parts are attached to each other using the supplied screws, and to the monitor – using a latching mechanism that allows you to easily attach the stand to the display. The advantage of this design is the large amount of free space under the monitor. The disadvantages, perhaps, include the lack of adjustments to the position of the screen Lenovo Q24i-10 in height and turns horizontally.

The product belongs to the budget segment, and from the possible adjustments there is only a change in the screen tilt angle. There is also a plastic mount on the metal tube (it was absent in the test sample), which will help organize the protruding wires, but will not hide them from view.

Lenovo Q24i-10 can be briefly described in two words – an ultrathin monitor. The diagonal of the display is 23.8 inches, and the manufacturer called the bezel NearEdgeless (almost no edge). The device combines elegance and functionality. The width of the frame surrounding the screen is only 3 mm at the sides and top, and 26 mm at the bottom. On the latter, on the right edge, there are markings for the device control buttons, which makes it easier to set up the monitor, as well as a status LED that does not dazzle at night.

Lenovo uses good quality plastic that does not leave greasy fingerprints. Black matte plastic looks quite strict and no frills.

The screen of the device is very thin – only the lower part has a certain thickening, under which is the entire electronic filling of the display, a platform for attaching to the stand and four ports for connection: a proprietary Lenovo power connector, an HDMI port of version 1.4, VGA and a 3.5 mm audio jack for connecting external acoustics or headphones. It is worth noting that the monitor has its own two speakers of 3 W each, the volume of which is sufficient when watching video content on the same YouTube. However, one should not expect the sound level of good external acoustics from these speakers.

As for the power supply, it is a single Lenovo standard with a power of 45 watts, but the monitor itself consumes only 35 watts. In case of great need, you can easily use a power supply unit from any other Lenovo device – the main thing is that this unit is of no less power and with the same connection input.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND SETTINGS

The Lenovo Q24i-10 office monitor uses a 23.8-inch 8-bit IPS panel with a maximum refresh rate of 75 Hz and FHD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). Color gamut – 72% NTSC and 100% sRGB. A WLED panel is used to illuminate the matrix. The peak brightness of the panel is 250 cd / m2. Static contrast is 1000: 1 and dynamic contrast is 3,000,000: 1.

The viewing angles of the monitor are 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically.

To prevent tearing and distortion in dynamic scenes, the monitor is equipped with AMD FreeSync adaptive frame synchronization technology, which, of course, will delight those who plan to play on it occasionally. There is support for Flicker Free technologies to prevent screen flicker and a blue light filter. As a result, this monitor is TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort Certified, which means it has been tested by TÜV Rheinland for blue light emission, image quality and flicker.

As for the settings, four navigation buttons are used to control the OSD menu, of which the two left ones serve for quick access to the selection of the signal source. The fifth button on the right is directly responsible only for turning on / off the monitor and differs in shape so as not to accidentally press it during setup.

The navigation menu works quite quickly and without brakes. The options are pretty standard. In the first section, the usual image settings and the choice of various preset modes for different scenarios are available, including for working in photo editors for which the sRGB mode is provided. The second contains the settings for the color temperature and the blue filter. The third and fourth sections are responsible for the sound and signal source settings, respectively. And the last section is about OSD adjustments and the factory reset function.

TESTS AND GAMES

We’ve been able to test the display on PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5 on projects such as Forza Horizon 4 (PC), Gears 5 (XSEX), Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (XSEX), Returnal (PS5), and Demon’s Souls (PS5). On PS5 and Xbox Series X, it was possible to set the maximum resolution to 1080p at 60 Hz. Microsoft’s console also allowed the AMD FreeSync option to be activated.

The monitor performed best on a PC, demonstrating a smooth and clear picture without tearing and artifacts. It is capable of delivering the declared frequency of 75 Hz when connected via HDMI. The panel has a gray to gray response time of 4ms, with an average of about 6ms.

As for the viewing angles, everything is in order here, and the color rendition at different angles remains at a fairly good level. The manufacturer should also be commended for the absence of visible highlights on black. The illumination uniformity is good.

TOTAL

What conclusion suggests itself after acquaintance with Lenovo Q24i-10? This is a good inexpensive work monitor that will fit well in both the office and home interiors. It is possible that someone will not like the presence of VGA instead of modern DisplayPort or at least DVI, as well as the refresh rate at 75 Hz, but remember that this is a budget segment device. When modeling Lenovo Q24i-10, the manufacturer had to weigh all the pros and cons. On the other hand, there is an excellent quality IPS-screen with no glare and good calibration, which is a very significant plus.
