Review of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered

The coronavirus season of 2023 turned out to be rich in remasters and remakes, among which suddenly appeared out of nowhere Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered – Re-release of a cult shooter from the last generation of consoles. At one time, the original became the swan song of the original creative team Infinity ward led by Vince Zampella and Jason West.

In 2016 Activision released a magnificent remaster of the first part Modern warfare, but then they allowed him to play only for those who would fork out for a bundle with a new game Call of Duty: Infinity Warfare. Then the shooter was still allowed to buy separately, but I had to put up with lootboxes and paid DLC with a set of cards.

Remaster of the second part is more surprising. The lack of a normal announcement is a small problem, but the game turned out to be truncated – there is only a story campaign here: multiplayer was not brought. Rumor has it that online can add later, but this does not change the essence.

Fortunately, the publisher didn’t overpay CoD: MW2R only costs $ 20. The project is currently a temporary exclusive Ps4but because Sony It is officially unavailable from Russia. You can bypass this restriction through an account in another region, or wait for the game to PC and Xbox onewhere she will be released on April 30th.

IN Modern warfare 2 The storyline, begun in the first part, continues. Despite the elimination of Imran Zakhaev, the planet does not become calmer. The fighter’s comrade-in-arms Vladimir Makarov is organizing a terrorist attack at a Moscow airport, the blame for which the Russian authorities lay on the United States. This leads to the start of the Third World War.

Most of the actors are somehow not afraid to commit acts that can be classified as war crimes. And despite the fact that many scold the plot MW2, calling it frankly cranberry, it is worth noting that this creation of Infinity Ward demonstrates the notorious “gray morality” much more successfully than the reboot of the subseries released in 2019.

But the problem is that new users simply do not understand the plot to the end. The review is based on the Ukrainian version of the game, but the notorious mission with the airport is cut out in it. It is not in the menu of choice of levels, nor in the list of achievements. Because of this, the whole narrative collapses. Obviously, in an attempt to circumvent Sony’s limitation and release the game in Russia, Activision publishing house hacked into self-censorship.

It is possible that in such a castrated form, the MW2 remaster will be released on PC and Xbox One. Yes, you can buy a shooter in the EU countries, but here the third level of self-censorship is included. I can’t talk about all the versions, but in the German iteration of the remaster, the developers forbade the player to shoot at passengers – it should be instant Game over.
