Respawn on the conflict with Lucasfilm: We were asked to make a game about blasters and bounty hunters

Game director Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Stig Asmussen spoke about the disagreements that Respawn had with the script group Lucasfilm. According to him, in Disney they didn’t want the developers to do the Jedi game.

Asmussen initially pitched the idea of a game about the Jedi and lightsabers, but Lucasfilm persuaded him to take up the project about blasters and bounty hunters. In response, the game director emphasized that such installations will not allow to use all the experience of Respawn, which was obtained in recent years.

“This is not the right background for the team that we created; you can just as well ask us to start making the race,” Asmussen was indignant.

In the end, Respawn still earned the right to use the Jedi in its game, despite skirmishes with Lucasfilm.

“For them, the Jedi is the Holy Grail. To get a chance to make a game about the Jedi, you need to earn it,” he explained.

Note that the Lucafilm scenario team has long had questions. According to one of the rumors, the representatives of the team allegedly literally idolized Ryan Johnsonwhile constantly conflicting with directors Colin Trevorrow and J.J. Abrams.
