Welcome to our remothered tormented fathers review.Building a good survival horror is a far from simple task. We are talking about a  classically difficult genre that, in order to maintain the need for anxiety-inducing dragging, requires an almost perfect coordination of all its constituent elements, from gameplay, to history, to the technical sector. But that’s not all, since the key to the memorability of a horrifying experience is undoubtedly the ability of the development team to offer the project a strong and fully formed identity.

A goal that the Italians of Stormind Games and Darril Arts seem to have centered with Remothered: Tormented Fathers , a title that offers a mysterious and disturbing recipe, made even more suggestive by a formula that affects the senses of the players with the sharpest arrows of the horror genr : the feeling of being totally vulnerable and at the mercy of events.
Yes, stuff to stain your pants .

An unexpected visit

Rosemary Reed is a conscientious and zealous doctor who considers patient care to be a mission, a constant commitment that transcends the limits traditionally imposed on one’s role. This is the spring that pushes her to get away from the Santa Marguerita Institute to visit the elderly Richard Felton, a former patient of the institute to whom the woman wants to propose new treatments – potentially resolutive – for the disease that has long afflicted her. .

Greeted by the maid of the house Felton, a gentle and caring lady, Rosemary finds herself face to face with a wizened and shabby man, consumed by a deeply disabling illness, which awakens all the Hippocratic instincts of the doctor. A story that, from the very beginning, is heading towards a final phase of peace, of therapeutic crowning.
Too bad it’s all a lie .

Remothered tormented fathers gameplay

Rosemary is not a willing doctor visiting an old patient, the maid of the Felton is a woman anything but mild and benign, and the king of the dark mansion is certainly not an old and needy old man. A narrative premise that from the first moment the plot of remothered game falls between the mists of a dense and disturbing mystery, full of strong identity nuances. Starting from the story, which at the beginning seems to veer towards the subgenre “weird menace” of horrifying fiction, with a sadistic and frightening villain, whose presence alone forces the player to imagine unmentionable torture.

The contrast between the apparent fragility of Dr. Felton and his unstoppable homicidal determination anticipates, however, the entry on stage of another element, that of the supernatural, which manifests itself with the evolution of a plot that does not spare neither on twists, nor the atmosphere that flutters – intoxicants – in every room of the house.

The settings are a riot of penumbra and crunches, which push the player to doubt his own perceptions, compromised by the more anxiogenic connotations of a gameplay that aims to make him feel lonely and helpless.

Without tools really effective to respond to the threat, continuous and burdensome of a wandering and delirious enemy, poor Rosemary is therefore forced to crawl in the darkness of claustrophobic environments, in a game of cat and mouse that makes the resolution of puzzles that dot the adventure. In this sense, the setting of the gameplay is rather rigid and “old school” , although it is not necessarily a defect in the play area of the production of Stormind Games.

The clock tower

The choice to offer a “classic” connotation to the experience clearly aims to satisfy the tastes – a bit nostalgic – of a user who grew up on bread and Clock Tower , a saga with which Remothered shares a substantial part of the basic mechanics. There are, obviously, reasonable concessions to the most modern course of the reference gender, linked for example to the possibility of collecting and launching common objects to attract the attentions of the pursuers (yes, there will be different) far from the unfortunate Rosemary.

There are also some simple QTE, which will allow us to free ourselves from the attacker in case of capture, using different offensive tools (knife, scissors, paper knife, etc.) to temporarily disable the enemy. These weapons, which can only be used in a defensive manner, can also be enhanced to increase their effectiveness, but keep in mind that these are always and in any case ways to save time, subtracting from the grip of fundamentally unstoppable enemies.

A connotation that keeps alive and suffocatingthe sense of oppression which characterizes the stealth foundation of the title, at least until the intervention of a couple of factors that tends to weaken the distressing impact of the experience. Although exploration represents, in fact, one of the cornerstones of the game, the occasional inefficiency of the object icons makes it difficult to identify the elements useful for solving the puzzles and, consequently, advancing the adventure.

This can lead to excessive dilution of the rhythm of the game and a significant drop in the impact of its excellent atmospheres. The same argument also applies to the artificial intelligence of the adversaries, which sometimes gives in to almost parodic behavior. It may indeed happen that, after a heart-pounding chase to the kitchens of the dwelling,
