Nvidia announced that instead of the canceled GTC 2023 conference on May 14, the official video of the company’s head will be published on the official green YouTube channel Jensen Juan. The event will be named Get amped (“Recharge”).
As part of the presentation, the top manager will talk about Nvidia’s developments in the areas of graphics, robotics, the creation of AI and autonomous cars, training neural networks and so on. However, the phrase Get Amped in the press release attracted the most attention.
Apparently, on May 14, the company will officially unveil a new generation of GPU architecture called Ampere. It is made according to the 7-nm process technology and will be the answer to Navi from AMD. According to preliminary data, new graphics cards will be 50% more productive than analogs based on Turing. At the same time, energy consumption will be halved.
Ampere based video cards themselves (RTX 3080 and RTX 3070), apparently, will not be demonstrated. Their presentation should take place in the second half of 2023 (presumably in August), and Juan’s speech will be aimed at iron producers and partners.
