Remake Final Fantasy VII set an absolute record for sales revenue and the number of copies sold in the start month in the United States throughout the history of the series. This was announced today by the company NPDtracking the US market.
Previously, the leader in both start indicators was multi-platform Final Fantasy XVdebuting at the end of 2016 on Playstation 4 and Xbox one. Final Fantasy VII Remake has been released so far on only one platform.
- In April, Final Fantasy VII Remake became the best-selling game for the PlayStation 4 in 2023 in the United States.
- In the overall ranking of the best-selling games for the first four months of 2023 in the United States, it ranks third, second only to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Speaking about sales of games in the US market as a whole, NPD noted that April 2023 was the largest April in history in terms of total revenue generated. The Americans spent $ 662 million on interactive entertainment – a 55% increase over April 2019.
Other interesting points:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare shows a serious exposure. In terms of sales revenue for the first seven months of being in the market, this is the fourth largest release in the history of the market in general.
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the leader in the March ranking for Switch, became the third in the April chart, but this is the only game in the top ten based solely on sales on physical media. Nintendo does not share digital statistics with NPD, while other large companies, except Bethesda, provide such data. According to Nintendo, half of the New Horizons worldwide circulation is in the eShop digital store.
- Caught in self-isolation, the Americans began to buy Just Dance 2023 more actively. In the March chart, the game was in 17th place, and in April rose to 11th. This is the fastest-selling part of the series in the last six years since Just Dance 2014 debuted..
- Shooter Predator: Hunting Grounds from Sony debuted from 15th place.
