In early April, immediately after the announcement of the impending closure PS Store on old consoles, owners Playstation 3 noticed that updates for many games stopped downloading. At the same time, users began to compile a list of PS3 projects that had problems downloading patches.
During this time, forum participants PSNProfiles joint efforts counted about 70 such games, however, in recent days, the situation has begun to gradually improve…
According to reports from all the same PSNProfiles, From about April 14, for some of the games from the list, downloading updates again resumed… This applies to Alien: Isolation, Battlefield 4, Gran Turismo 5, Just Cause 2, Mortal Kombat, SoulCalibur IV, Twisted Metal and several dozen other titles. Some users have partially restored the download of updates for Journey, LittleBigPlanet 2, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, SOCOM: Special Forces, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – Game of the Year and a number of other games, while for individual titles like Wolfenstein and WWE 2K16 patches are still not available.
Sony did not comment on the situation, but apparently the problem was caused by a malfunctioning PS3 network infrastructure. After the news about the impending closure of the PS Store, users flooded into PSN download games, and the servers seemed to be unprepared for the surge in traffic.
Yesterday Sony announcedthat she changed her mind about disabling PS Store on PS3 and PS Vita, but the possibility of digital purchases on PSP will still be finally shut down this summer, as planned.
