Poll: Less than 10% of women prefer to play male characters

Analytical agency Quantic foundry tried to establish what gender characters users prefer to choose, if the game provides such an opportunity. About 3 thousand people took part in the survey. The average age of the respondents is 24 years.

The upcoming shooter Far Cry 6 is an example of a new project that allows you to choose the gender of the protagonist.

According to the study, almost a third of men choose to play as female characters – 29%… In turn, the girls who prefer male characters turned out to be much less – only nine%

Also, in the survey Quantic foundry gender-non-binary personas also took part, and it was found that such people, if possible, try to choose non-binary play characters with whom they can directly associate themselves. In numbers, this value has reached 38%

  • 48% prefer to play as male characters;

  • 1% prefer to play non-binary characters.

Women:

  • 76% prefer to play as female characters;
  • 11% have no clear preferences;
  • 9% prefer to play as male characters;
  • 4% prefer to play non-binary characters.

Non-binary:

  • 38% prefer to play non-binary characters;
  • 33% prefer to play female characters
  • 19% have no preferences;
  • 10% prefer to play as male characters.
