During 2023, the site was able to mark a whole heap of records: by the number of active users per month (120.4 million on average), daily active users (62.6 million), maximum users simultaneously (24.8 million), the number of new buyers (2.6 million per month), time in the game (31.3 billion hours) and games purchased by users (growth of 21.4% compared to 2019).

“Despite the fact that even before the pandemic there was a significant increase in Steam, with the onset of isolation, both the game time and the number of users who purchase and launch games increased dramatically. We hope they brought people at least a little joy and smoothed out the craziness of the past year,” she said Valve.
Among other things, Valve announced that demand for PC VR games continued to grow in 2023, with sales growing 32% over the year. And that’s without regard to launch Half-Life: Alyx, which added another 39% to the growth.
In 2023, over 1.7 million Steam users launched VR games for the first time. VR users have played more than 104 million VR gaming sessions on PC, with an average session lasting about 32 minutes, resulting in a 30% increase in overall gaming time.
Looking ahead, Valve plans to launch Steam China in China in early 2023. In addition, the developers intend to improve the user experience to make the purchase, installation of games and the gameplay as simple as possible, as well as to update the Steam mobile application.
