Produced at work Playstation 4 the noise is so loud that some compare it to the roar of an airplane turbine. Fans pray to the hardware gods to Sony came up with a solution to the problem and included a decent cooling system in the next-generation console. The patent filed by the company in 2018 hints that Playstation 5 will work in complete silence. Confidence in this is reinforced by the radiator images attached to the document.
Its description reads:
“The heatsink is located on the bottom surface of the circuit board. The circuit board has through holes that penetrate the circuit board in the area where the integrated circuit device is located. Conductive paths are provided in through holes. Thermal conductivity circuits connect the integrated circuit device and the radiator. This structure allows you to place a component other than the radiator on the same side as the device with an integrated circuit, which provides a higher degree of freedom in the layout of the components. “
Speaking as part of his PS5 presentation earlier this year, architect Mark Zerny explained that Sony’s unique next-generation system design will help prevent it from turning into a hairdryer. He also mentioned in an interview with Digital Foundry that in the near future we will see a solution for cooling the console.
One of the Reddit users, having carefully studied the circuits, presented what a radiator might look like in real life. Nemesis_scale portrayed the components not quite to scale, however they give a clear view of the PlayStation 5’s innovative cooling system.
The PlayStation 5 will go on sale during the 2023 Christmas holidays.
