In a recent interview with the Polish edition Książki famous writer Andrzej Sapkowski said he was pleased with his book saga “The witcher“and wouldn’t change anything in it if he had the opportunity to go back and make any fundamental changes to the history. However, if the “witch” universe was created only now, these days, the writer admits that he could make Geralt, the central character, a woman.
“I don’t know what would happen next, but if I had such an idea, the idea of a Geralt woman, I would not drive her away and try to work with her. I don’t see anything wrong with that,” Sapkovsky explained.
The writer has repeatedly seen in the vast network of fan art, where Geralt is portrayed as a woman. They seemed interesting to him.
Earlier, Sapkovsky said that The Witcher is not a “Slavic work”, but a classic fantasy, where there is practically no “Slavic spirit”. He also granted companies working with a license for his works complete creative freedom in creating adaptations. Characters in games and series can be any skin color.
At the end of 2019, CD Projekt RED made peace with Sapkowski and received a new license to create games in the Witcher universe.. Netflix will also continue its series. The second season is expected in 2023. You can find our opinion about the first here..
