Bloomberg reports that in the first six months Sony plans limited production Playstation 5 – About 5-6 million systems compared to 7.5 million PlayStation 4 for the same period.
This is partly due to the high demand for expensive components, which, in turn, will affect the starting cost of the console. Among the developers, there is talk of a price of $ 499-549, although nothing has been decided yet.
Most likely, Sony will sell the new product at a loss, compensating for this with sales of the PS4, for both models of which a large price reduction is expected, and various services like PS Plus and PS Now.
At the same time, the coronavirus pandemic has not yet affected production plans – it is expected to start in June, but the marketing of the system has changed. For example, the recent display of DualSense was carried out in a hurry.
Now Sony plans to release a console at the end of the year, and simultaneously all over the world.
