Company Signify, a leader in lighting, unveiled new UV cameras and luminaires Philips… According to the official description, these devices inactivate SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, by more than 99%, providing a quick and effective way to disinfect room surfaces and small items such as keys, toys and mobile phones. New items have features for safe use, as well as an intuitive interface that makes them as easy to use as possible.
“It is very important that the surfaces we touch are treated from harmful microorganisms – this has a huge impact on our health and well-being. And exposure to ultraviolet radiation – electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 200-280 nm – is one of the most effective ways to inactivate viruses. – radiation with a special wavelength of 254 nm can destroy the DNA of viruses, bacteria and fungi. New ultraviolet cameras and Philips lamps will allow you to disinfect objects and surfaces at home, “- said in the announcement message.
Devices can be purchased from the official store shop.philips.ru, as well as on the website of the M.Video electronics store, the Ozon.ru and Wildberries.ru marketplaces.
The camera will allow you to quickly disinfect small items such as bank cards, keys, electronic devices, kitchen appliances, toothbrushes and hairbrushes. The manufacturer points out that virus protection is especially important for families with small children, and this solution is a reliable way to disinfect bottles, pacifiers and toys. At the same time, you do not need to worry about the safety of things – the camera has a double protection system that automatically turns off the UV source as soon as the lid is opened. The device is also suitable for small business owners: you can put manicure and hairdressing supplies in it.
According to the official press release, the 10-liter chamber is equipped with two ultraviolet lamps that can inactivate viruses and bacteria. The sterilization process is organized as efficiently as possible – the inner walls of the device are made of stainless steel, and ultraviolet rays are reflected in them several times, processing the contents from all sides.
“The functional design of the camera allows every inch of space to be used. The top basket can be removed to accommodate more items or larger items, and the lid is conveniently positioned to easily load or take out items.”
To start the device, you need to select one of four functions located on the touch control panel: disinfection, storage, drying and disinfection + drying. The camera has a double protection system, in which the UV source is automatically turned off when the lid is opened.
Philips table lamp inactivates viruses, bacteria, mold and spores within minutes. The duration of disinfection depends on the size of the room and the type of surfaces and objects in the room. So, to process the living room, it will take about 45 minutes, half an hour is enough for a bedroom, and a standard bathroom will take 15 minutes. During the operation of the lamp, a dose of radiation exceeding the necessary is used – this, according to the creators, allows you to destroy most of the microbes that have been tested for exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
Immediately after the end of disinfection, the built-in timer switches the device to standby mode. The sensor detects any movement within a radius of five meters – if a person or a pet enters the room while the lamp is operating, the device will automatically turn off.
“We are now experiencing a wave of a coronavirus pandemic of a new strain, so it is necessary to thoroughly clean the surrounding surfaces and objects. Philips UV solutions will help to gently disinfect the air and personal belongings from viruses and bacteria,” said Natalya Rymar, senior product manager at Signify.
Lamps for new devices are manufactured in Europe and retain their radiation power for 6,000 hours, while some other UV tubes can lose up to 50% of radiation power after 500 hours of operation. Despite the high energy efficiency of over 30%, Philips lamps have a low power consumption of 24W. The new products also provide special functions for safe operation and an intuitive interface that is responsible for ease of operation. In addition, they are made of high quality materials that are not exposed to ultraviolet radiation. The warranty period is 2 years.
Signify uses ultraviolet technology in its products, which has been scientifically proven to be effective. Philips UV Sources completely inactivate large numbers of viruses, bacteria, germs and mites within minutes.
