In a statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission Microsoft indicated that it will continue to expand its IP line, including through the acquisition of game studios and the attraction of new partners.

“We continue to invest in new game studios and content to expand our IP lineup and attract new content creators,” the document says.

This is just one of the areas where the company will invest money. Microsoft also plans to develop Xbox Game Pass with carefully curated games.

“These unique gaming experiences are the cornerstone of Xbox Game Pass, a subscription service and gaming community with access to a carefully curated library of over 100 console and PC games from in-house and third-party studios.”

Over the past couple of years, Microsoft has acquired several large teams such as Obsidian Entertainment and Ninja theory, as well as relatively small studios, for example Undead Labs and Compulsionthereby strengthening the state of affairs in Xbox Game Studios
