Today, information has spread across the network that the role-playing game Persona 5 Royal from Japanese studio Atlus received an age rating on the territory of South Korea in the version for Xbox Series X | S… The media wrote that the request was submitted by the Singapore unit Microsoft, and the classification of the game was allegedly assigned back in September 2023. However, all this is fake.
In fact, the official website of the Korean Game Management Committee no mention of Persona 5 Royal for Xbox, and the screenshot that went online was made in the section of the so-called “self-classification of games” and contains a mention “Persona 5 Royal dlc“which is not the official title of the hit from Atlus…
The self-classification section is often used by the creators of various fan applications and scammers who release their “projects” on the vast digital stores with a “simplified publishing system”. These include Google play (Android) and Microsoft Store (PC).
If you use the search in the self-classification section of the Korean website Game Rating and Administration Committee, then you can find a lot of interesting things. For example, an application named “The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild“(no colon after Zelda), and this really came out in the Microsoft Store, but had nothing to do with Zelda from Nintendo, although unofficially used her art.
Amid complaints from players, Microsoft removed the page, but this is not an isolated example. Right now in the Microsoft Store for sale some Animal Crossing New Horizons Island Designer – scammers change the name a little, use the art of a popular game, but offer real junk under this wrapper.
And Animal Crossing New Horizons Island Designer can also be seen on the Korea Game Management Committee website in the self-classification section.
And here is The Legend of Zelda mentioned above:
Persona 5 Royal dlc labeled Microsoft store was added to the base, apparently in the same way. Pages with official ratings from regulators look like otherwise…
It is worth noting that earlier insiders hinted at the appearance of Persona 5 Royal in the Xbox Game Pass subscription service on Xbox consoles, so many people immediately associated today’s news about the Korean rating with their words, but they were clearly in a hurry.
