One Xbox creator sues Atari for unpaid VCS console design work

Design company Tin giant, in which one of the creators of the original Xbox works Rob Wyatt, filed a lawsuit against Atari in the Colorado federal court, accusing the latter of violating contractual obligations and defamation.

Wyatt claims Atari didn’t pay $ 261,700 to his company Tin giant for half a year design work on the Atari VCS console.

The Wyatt lawsuit states that on June 26, 2018, Tin Giant signed a contract for the work. The specialist fulfilled his obligations under the transaction and issued Atari an invoice in the amount of USD 261,720. Later, he demanded that the payment be made before October 2019, but he still has not received any money.

According to him, Atari also falsely claimed that Tin Giant delayed the delivery of the console project and was unable to complete its scope of work described in the agreement.

“In fact, the reason for the delay in launch was the inefficient management of the console project by Atari itself,” the lawsuit said.

Atari CEO Fred chesne He declined to comment on the statement, citing the fact that he had not yet received a copy of the lawsuit. Atari has not been involved in creating game consoles for more than 20 years, but in June 2017 Firgal Mac Conulade the prefix was first introduced Atari vcswhich passed then under the code name Ataribox.

In December 2017, Atari admitted that there were a number of problems that resulted in the cancellation of pre-orders for the device. At this point, Mac Conulad leaves the company, and at the March GDC 2018, Atari reanimates the console and renames it Atari vcs. CEO of the company Fred chesne stated that the prefix will be released in 2019, but Atari once again managed not to meet the deadline. Recent promises assure that shipments can start this spring. Needless to say, Atari VCS never reached customers who previously pre-ordered. In the middle of last month, the company statedthat her plans were disrupted by the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic.

However, it’s hard to believe in the success of this venture, because the network has already appeared crushing information about the problematic development of the console.
