John Tobias, co-author of the original Mortal kombat as well as Ed boon, begins a new stage in the career of a video game developer. On your page on a social network Twitter he announced the creation of a new studio under the wing of the publishing house Wb games. The unit will be located in San Diego and will develop “superclass” games. Judging by the information from the personal profile on LinkedIn, Tobias moved to a new job in October last year, taking the position of creative director.

Tobias began his career in the gaming industry with Midway Games, where in 1992 he achieved success with the fighting game Mortal Kombat. Later, in 1999, he and several other leading developers left Midway, setting up his own Studio Gigante team. The first project of the newly formed team was the fighting game Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus, published by Microsoft Game Studios in 2003, but after the release of WWE WrestleMania 21 in 2005, Studio Gigante ceased its activities. Later, Tobias worked for some time as a consultant in the gaming industry, and from 2012 to 2018 he held the position of creative director in the Zynga San Diego division.

What will be the new project of Tobias is still unknown, but it can be assumed that a fighting game awaits us.
