Official: Nvidia buys ARM and moves towards AI development

Company Nvidia has officially confirmed the information that it is buying a British processor developer ARM for $ 40 billion. This is stated in a fresh press release.

The details of the deal were also announced. Nvidia will pay the holding company Softbank $ 21.5 billion in shares, as well as $ 12 billion in cash, of which the latter will receive two billion immediately. The Japanese will also compete for an additional $ 5 billion in cash or stock, which will depend on ARM’s profits. Employees of the British company will also receive $ 1.5 billion.

The agreement has not yet been approved by the financial regulator. If all goes to plan, the deal will be finalized in 18 months.

Nvidia has no plans to change its licensing policy for ARM technologies, and also wants to keep the latter’s customers. However, the American company wants to integrate its technologies into the ARM network and use it to create new technologies for data centers.

Nvidia is interested in moving towards AI computing. To do this, she will invest in the construction of a center for the study of artificial intelligence technologies in Cambridge.
