Company Nintendo not so long ago won a court against the portal RomUniverse, which distributed illegal versions of games for Switch, 3DS and other platforms of the company. The court ordered the owner of the site to pay her $ 2.1 million for copyright infringement.
It would seem that this is a victory, even if the judge did not support the requested amount of $ 15 million. However, the court did not insist on a lump sum payment as demanded by Nintendo, instead ordering the defendant to pay a modest $ 50 monthly. The company tried to challenge this, but could not prove that Matthew Storman’s actions caused it irreparable damage.
And now Nintendo is again suing Storman, accusing him of delaying the first mandatory payment of $ 50. This is seen as evidence that such a lenient sentence fails to compel the defendant to abandon further copyright infringement.
Nintendo continues to insist that Storman should have received a one-time fine. Otherwise, he will be able to restore the activities of his RomUniverse website one day. And at a rate of $ 50 a month, it will take him more than 3.5 thousand years to pay two million dollars.
