Nature hits the prone: earthquake in Japan could increase the shortage of components for video cards and processors

Last weekend in Japan strong tremors passed. Many companies were forced to suspend production, including suppliers of materials for semiconductor components. In this regard, a deficit of the latter is expected.

Edition Nikkei Asian Review notes that suppliers of chemicals for processing silicon wafers have stopped working Shin-Etsu Chemical and Mitsui Chemicals… While they are still assessing the amount of damage, there is a possibility that the natural disaster negatively affected the already scarce market of processors (including video cards).

The media reported that it was not possible to completely avoid damage to the producers. In addition, there were power outages. The latter alone can take up to two weeks to recover.
