It seems that the next part of Assassin’s Creed will be devoted to Scandinavian mythology and will be released in 2023. These and other details about the game were told by an anonymous user 4chan with a link to developers from Ubisoft. His words were partially confirmed by Kotaku editor Jason Schreyer.
According to an insider, the new part of Assassin’s Creed will receive the subtitle Ragnarok and will be released on September 29, 2023 – the announcement will take place in February at an event from Sony. The game will be available on the PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series X. It will be available in cooperative mode for four or less players in the format of Ghost Recon Wildlands.
The main character will be Jora – users can choose only the gender of the hero. In the new Assassin’s Creed, a class system will appear, for each of which a skill tree will be prepared. In addition, developers will add more types of weapons with special features, rune slots and a measure of strength. Magic stones with certain elemental properties can be activated in berserk mode, which replaces the adrenaline scale here.
The parkour system will be expanded with the ability to climb trees and new animations. The developers will also add active stealth skills – the player will be able to hide in the snow or mud, get through the bushes or merge with the crowd, if he is wearing suitable clothes. In addition, a hidden blade will return to Assassin’s Creed.
In battles, difficulty will affect the time to parry and the reaction of enemies. Ubisoft also redesigned the experience system – the game will not have locations for certain levels, and skills can be opened in various ways.
Action Ragnarok will unfold in the northern part of Europe, and the main cities will be London, Paris, Kiev and York. The player will be able to move between locations on the water – including along the rivers. The main topic will be the confrontation between the Crusaders and the Assassins, who in this world are associated with Odin.
The hero will have a certain reputation in each kingdom, it opens access to new tasks. The user will also be able to participate in wars and independently initiate raids on the settlements captured by the crusaders. The latter will generate income from trade.
An insider also told details about the plot of the game. For example, the story will begin in 863 AD, one of the characters will be Ragnar Lodbrok, and the player will be able to fight several mythical creatures like the kraken and the giant snake.
