Muscovites will be tracked by cameras with face recognition – review

Moscow uses the urban camera system with face recognition to track the movement of people during the quarantine period. According to “Merchant”, For this they use NtechLab technology, which will be connected to 175 thousand cameras.

This was done against the background of tougher quarantine measures in the capital. Starting March 30, in Moscow and the Moscow region it is allowed to leave home only in some cases. For example, if you go to a store, pharmacy, seek medical help or walk a pet. It is also permitted to travel to work if it cannot be performed remotely.

It is noted that they can introduce a system of special passes, without which access to the street will be prohibited.

Technically, the system can rely on a photo of violators of the self-isolation mode, while it is argued that even a partially closed face is enough for recognition. Medical masks do not interfere with this. It is also stated that control will not be total. Only particularly dangerous buildings or entrances will be tracked.

At the same time, it is reported that most of the systems still do not work, therefore, part-time tracking of violators will have to be carried out manually.
