More PS5 Exclusives: Sony To Aggressively Invest in Studios, New Content and Partnerships

Company Sony Interactive Entertainment intends to increase investment in the development of new exclusive content for Playstation 5, joint projects with third-party teams and the development of their own studios. The financial director of the corporation announced this following the results of the presentation of today’s report on the work for the last year. Hiroki Totoki

According to him, in the period from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023, Sony will invest an additional $ 183 million in internal studios and the content they develop.

Sony also intends to strengthen relationships with external partner studios. One example of such work is the support of Haven Studios, founded by Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond. She is making a PlayStation 5 exclusive

One more example – collaboration with Firewalk Studios on the development of the original multiplayer game for the PlayStation 5

Overall, Totoki noted, Sony is committed to an aggressive investment policy within the gaming division.

During the report, Totoki also said that Sony expects sales of games for PlayStation consoles to decline in the first quarter of this fiscal year compared to the same period last year. We are talking about the period from April to June.

At the same time, growth is expected in the second quarter, which will allow to equalize the total sales for the two quarters with the figures of the previous first half of the year. This is an interesting moment, since Sony has not yet announced anything for July-September, and in 2023, players bought such high-profile exclusives as The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of tsushima

Sony is in no hurry to reveal all the cards, but many believe that at least a sequel may come out in these three months Horizon zero dawnannounced for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
