Monsters, parkour, David Belle and more – on the fresh show Dying Light 2 – review addiction

Creators Dying light 2 hosted a new zombie action show about monsters and sound design, and – very little – parkour, which will be covered in more detail in the next episode of Dying 2 Know.

The first from the development team to take the floor was Timon Smektana, the chief game designer of Dying Light 2. He spoke about the process of infecting people, which at first can slow down or stop the infection – but if you stay in the dark for too long, the disease progresses, and then there is no hope of salvation.

And then you become a monster.

At the same time, due to chemicals and mutations, there will be many types of monsters in the game, for example, Smectala himself likes the revenant more than others – a rather smart and dangerous opponent.

Ultraviolet light helps against the infected, so during the day on the streets of the city it will be possible to meet only sedentary byters.

When the sun is shining, as you know, monsters hide in buildings, so it’s better not to meddle there if life is dear. On the other hand, at night it will be possible to find a lot of interesting things there, and the mechanic of stealthy movement will help in this, if you move in the dark and do not make noise.

Revenant

To show the enemies in action, the developers have presented a fresh gameplay trailer for Dying Light 2, where you can see the hero of the legendary tracer David Belle.

There is everything here: stealth, dynamic parkour, and a wide variety of monsters – and all this in the entourage of a dilapidated, decayed hospital full of chemicals.

The artists from the Dying Light 2 team presented two more monsters – a large demolisher and an agile banshee. The first will throw something heavy at the hero and immediately go on the attack, and the banshee attacks from above (like no other), and her main weapon is her hands.

Demolisher and Banshee

Speaking of banshee, as animation director David Lubryka said, she has a certain inner conflict – sometimes she reflects and seems to understand that she is sick. Therefore, when attacking the hero and approaching him, the banshee can suddenly bounce back, as if resisting the virus. However, the resistance does not last long.

But howler – he prefers not to fight, but to call other infected at the sight of a person. Sometimes he stands on tiptoe to look around, and all this makes him very much like a frightened child, because there is something human left in him. As with many monsters.

We also talked about sound effects separately: designer Tomak Syadek told how the “voices” of the infected are recorded, based on the fact that they were once ordinary people, but then acquired some peculiarities. They, like the emotions of monsters, must be conveyed with the help of sounds.

And, for example, for an ordinary monster like a byte, there are about 700 voice files.

Separately, they discussed the “sound of the city”. The developers had to visit many deserted places like abandoned factories, old military bunkers, winter forest and more.

The authors also talked about the successes of the first Dying light – over half a million players entered the game over the past month. Plus the zombie boveik set the record for the number of concurrent players across all platforms. Moreover, the game will receive new content.

Dying Light 2 will be released on December 7 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC. Well, the next episode of Dying 2 Know will be devoted to fighting styles, weapon creation and, of course, parkour, which was created in collaboration with David Belle.
