Microsoft started deploying its new icons for a number of applications in Windows 10. The company uses its own concept for this Fluent design. Redmond wants to create a single icon style for all supported applications on all platforms, as well as to facilitate the perception of data in general.
The bottom line is that the icons on the taskbar and in the Start menu have different styles, this is more difficult for users to perceive. As part of Fluent Design, it is planned not only to make icons in a single style, but also to provide them with peculiar visual cues.
According to company specialists, the goal is to enable users to recognize the application icon at a glance. At the moment, such icons have already appeared for some applications in the latest “insider” build of Windows 10.
So far, the list of programs with updated icons looks like this:
- Mail & calendar
- Groove music
- Film & tv
- Calculator
- Alarms
- Voice recorder
It is not yet clear whether these icons will be updated in the spring release of Windows 10 (2004) or whether they will have to wait until the fall.
