Doom Eternal introduces ray tracing and 120 fps mode

For Doom Eternal a patch has been released that adds ray tracing to the game. Support for the new technology has been added to almost all compatible platforms: PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

The update weighs 70 GB and along with it another mode is added for console versions – 120 fps. The latter on PS5 will be available in resolutions up to 1584p (just above standard QHD), on Series X – up to 1800p. Real-time ray calculation both consoles will only support in 1800p mode at 60 fps. The same number of fps will be in normal mode in 4K.

For a PC, there are, of course, no such restrictions. Separately, we note that on the younger Series S, which does not support RT, only 120 fps for Full HD will appear. Naturally, the declared permissions for all consoles are dynamic.

Judging by the release video on the channel NVIDIA, the most noticeable new effects are on reflective surfaces.
