Microsoft is not interested in direct competition with Sony

Chapter Xbox Game Studios Matt Butie said that in the future he will try to stay away from direct competition with Sony. In an interview MCV UK the head praised the company for the “fantastic work in all directions” and said that Microsoft it’s necessary to focus on more important things than to follow the competitor “head to head”.

“First of all, I want to say that Sony has done a fantastic job in all directions in terms of increasing audience, selling consoles and, obviously, releasing a number of amazing, great games that its internal studios have created. I will try to distance myself from such things as following nostril to nostril with Sony. Instead, I think we need to focus on three things.

First, we need to keep the promises we make. That is, if we say that the game will be released at a certain time, we must make sure that this happens, we just have to be more executive. Secondly, we need to make sure that we keep the bar of high quality and release games that we will be proud of, and make fans proud of Xbox exclusives. And finally, we must continue to create stories, characters, and worlds that can survive generations, devices, and platforms. ”

Buti said that all games released for the Xbox Series X within a year from the release of the next-generation console will be fully compatible with Xbox One and Windows 10. This runs counter to Sony’s policy, which, according to Jason Schreier, intends to concentrate all efforts on developing exclusives for the PlayStation 5.
