Micron plans to launch HBM2 memory this year

Micron in her latest financial report she revealed that she will present her first HBM2 memory at the end of this year. Such a step will allow the manufacturer to enter new markets, in particular, high-performance video accelerators and network solutions.
Note that at the moment, HBM2 memory is released Samsung and SK Hynix. If everything goes according to plan, then the emergence of a new player will improve the situation as a whole. Note that earlier the company’s efforts were focused on the Hybrid Memory Cube (HMC) and GDDR5X. However, the first type remained exotic, losing the battle with the more common HBM / HBM2.
Micron does not currently disclose the specifications of its first HBM2 devices. However, it is assumed that the chips will be manufactured using 10 nanometer technology.
When the first accelerators with Micron HBM2 memory will be released, it is not reported. But do not exclude that these will be new video cards Nvidiathat promise this year.
