In the latter case, the places were distributed according to the points system, where the total points were accumulated depending on the positions of a particular game in the media tops.
Since at the time of the creation of the second top, not all of the best games of the decade were named by the top, recently Metacritic updated this rating, recounting the points taking into account the lists from other publications added in recent weeks.
As a result, many games have changed their positions. For each first place in the lists of different publications, Metacritic awards games with 3 points, the second – 2 points, for places from 3rd to 10th – 1 point each (the same game gets for the presence in the list of 10 or less positions without division by places), from 11th to 20th places – 0.5 points.

In a vote among Metacritic users, in which 2,600 people took part, The Last of Us became the main game of the past decade. She won a similar vote among readers of the official PlayStation blog.
