Mads Mikkelsen would like to talk to Depp about Fantastic Beasts

As we already know, in the film “Fantastic Beasts 3“The role of Gellert Grindelwald will not be played by Johnny Depp: he was asked to withdraw from the participation in the background of the scandal with litigation with his ex-wife. Warner bros… didn’t even spare the eight-figure sum to break the contract.

His place will be taken by Mads Mikkelsen, and the actor told his feelings about this in an interview. The sunday times… He assured that he did not participate in the studio showdown with Depp and agreed to the role only because he liked the script.

I don’t know what happened there, and I don’t know if it was fair that he lost his job, but I just knew the show had to go on. I’d love to talk to him about all of this if the opportunity came along, but I’m just not that familiar with him.

Mikkelsen understands that the situation is not even for the most ordinary, and for someone his participation in a popular film series may be unpleasant. But, in his opinion, this happens from time to time.

I didn’t want to copy what Johnny created. I think he is a powerful actor and it would be creative suicide to imitate him. I needed to find something that would definitely be my own, but at the same time lead to what Depp did. My approach is different, and the look is a little different, but we will have to wait for the release of the film to see what happened.

Fantastic Beasts 3 is set to premiere in 2023, presumably on July 15th. Around the same time, another new film with Mikkelsen is due out, “Indiana Jones 5“Where he is filmed side-by-side with Harrison Ford.
