Looks like Windows 10X will become an analogue of ChromeOS

We already wrote that Microsoft postponed the release of the Windows 10X operating system. Now there is new data that explains, including the lack of support for Win32 applications since the release.
According to Windows Latest, the company seems to have changed its strategy regarding the new “top ten.” The developers removed virtualization support from the system for running desktop applications in order to make Windows 10X a competitor to Google Chrome OS. In this case, the use of only universal and web applications is justified.

It is assumed that this version of the OS is designed for devices with low power consumption. In essence, it will be the successor system of Windows 10 S and Windows RT. Moreover, Microsoft is going to promote the web versions of Office, Teams and Skype applications. This will also allow using the new top ten on ARM systems without resorting to emulation.

At the same time, we note that in 2023 support for Win32 applications will still appear. Most likely, it will be “delivered” to more productive devices.
