James Gunn brings elements from Lollipop Chainsaw to Suicide Squad: Mission Bash

We already know that Harley Quinn’s design is from the game Batman: Arkham City served as a source inspiration for the director James Gunn when creating one of the cinematic images of the character of Margot Robbie in the film “Suicide Squad: Mission Kick Through“(our review), however, as it turned out, this was not the only borrowing from video games.

In an interview with Collider, the director of the new “Suicide Squad” said that the scene of Harley Quinn’s fight with the soldiers during the escape contains vivid visual elements like those in the zombie slasher Lollipop chainsaw, on which he worked with a game designer Goichi Sudoy

“In Lollipop Chainsaw, which I did with Goichi Souda in Japan, I always loved the way hearts and beautiful little details fly out of people with blood,” explains James Gunn. “A lot of it comes from there, aesthetically blending the violence and Harley’s flamboyant outlook on life. Essentially, allowing her to create her vision of what’s going on.”

Previously, the founder and CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture, Goichi Suda, has expressed a desire to develop a remaster or sequel to Lollipop Chainsaw, but the final decision is up to Warner Bros. and Kadokawa Games, which own the rights to the game. In addition, the developer would like to work with James Gunn again.

Lollipop Chainsaw was released in 2012 on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360
