It will be cheaper: Twitch streaming platform announced the introduction of regional subscription prices – Russia will also be affected

Streaming platform Twitch announced major changes to its paid channel subscription system – the site will introduce a global regional pricing system in the next few months… This means that the cost of channel subscriptions will be adjusted depending on your region.

Recall that the minimum subscription cost (excluding temporary promotions) on Twitch for the first level is $ 4.99… In some countries, including Russia, this amount is converted to the regional currency. However, in the next few months, the subscription price tag in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Europe (Russia) will also be regulated taking into account the current local economic situation and the exchange rate.

New rules Twitch will make the subscription much more affordable – its cost in many countries should decrease significantly… The first regions to feel the changes in the streaming platform were Mexico and Turkey… There starting from May 20, you can support your favorite streamer for 48 pesos (180 rubles) and 9.90 lire (90 rubles) respectively.

As the administration notes Twitch, in the long term, regional prices will push much more users to actively support the content they are interested in

“The number of active users in Europe or Asia supporting authors via subscription is about 50% lower than in North America. In Latin America, there are 80% fewer such users,” – says the official Twitch post.

For the streamers themselves, the regional subscription pricing system will also introduce certain changes. Since the income of channel owners is directly dependent on payments from subscribers, during the transition period Twitch promises to provide streamers with active support, including three months one hundred percent compensation for the difference in price between standard and regional subscription prices.

About all steps in the implementation of regional price tags Twitch plans to notify in separate notes, gradually introducing the new system in more countries.
