Instead of the 404th error, the Brave browser displays a page from the Internet archive

Browser developers Brave together with Internet archive expanded cooperation. The new version of the web browser under the number 1.4 has the opportunity to replace the 404 error with a copy of the page from the Internet archive.
According to a study by the Library of Congress, the average lifetime of a webpage is between 44 and 100 days. After that, most often it is deleted. The creators of the WayBack Machine online archive believe that connecting with a browser will make the network work better.
The scheme looks like this – if the user lands on the “four hundred and fourth” page, then the browser offers to search for the URL in the Wayback Machine. When located, it is automatically redirected to it.
The system checks web pages for errors 404, 408, 410, 451, 500, 502, 503, 504, 509, 520, 521, 523, 524, 525 and 526. In addition to Brave, this feature is available in Chrome, Safari and Firefox, for which implemented extensions.
According to Internet Archive, over 23 billion web pages and over 900 billion website addresses have been accumulated in the Wayback Machine database over 23 years.
