The British Interactive Entertainment Association has launched a new initiative. Together with leading companies in the industry, it will give away over 85,000 games and subscriptions to employees of the National Health Service struggling with COVID-19 for free.
To receive a gift, doctors need to go to the Games for Carers website, created at the time of the promotion. The employee must use his work mail as a login.
The author of the action is a journalist. Chris Skullion. He told VGC that the idea for Games for Carers came to his mind after one of the subscribers gave him the key from the distribution on Twitter.
“Someone suggested handing it over to the NHA employee, and I thought it was a great idea, but in the end three or four employees responded to the call,” he says.
“Then I thought it would be great to give out codes to several NHA employees instead of one.”
After that, the journalist turned to his acquaintances from the gaming industry to find out if they had in stock codes that he could give.
“It ended up being in touch with the British Association of Interactive Entertainment, and the idea grew into all of this.”
As a result, dozens of gaming companies supported the charity event, including Electronic Arts, Codemasters, Konami, Jagex, Sega, Media Molecule, Xbox and Team 17.
Earlier, the National Health Service of Great Britain thanked actor Henry Cavill.
