The British Film Classification Board has changed the age ratings of several popular films on the grounds of “social change.”
Most of the feeds changed the rating from PG (recommendation to watch with parents) to 12A (up to 12 years old only with parents), and in each case different reasons were named:
- Flash Gorodon – a little cruelty, hints of sexual relations, the presence of discriminatory stereotypes
- Rocky – a small amount of cruelty, swearing and scenes of domestic violence
- Director’s Cut “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” – mild violence and scary episodes
- “The Elephant Man” – demonstration of mutilation, eerie and depressive scenes
- Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back moved from “all ages” to PG because of “moderate violence”.
Moreover, the original “Fast and the Furious” the rating was softened, dropping it from the category “available from 15 years” to 12A.
