It seems, NVIDIA will soon show a new accelerator for parallel computing. This became known thanks to the first photographs of the device.
CMP 170HX is a modified NVIDIA A100, which has lost connectors for displaying images and gaming functions. The map was based on Ampere rejection.
The novelty received 4,480 CUDA cores, which is only 54% of the 6,912 active in the original GA100 processor. As for the memory, it is also significantly less in the CMP 170HX. Instead of the 40 or 80 GB available on the various A100 models, the mining card only has 8 GB of HBM2e memory with a maximum bandwidth of 1.493 GB / s.
In addition, NVIDIA limited the PCIe interface bandwidth to version 1.0 and kept only 4 out of 16 possible lanes. Among other things, the current BIOS version does not support memory overclocking, blocking power optimization for mining.
Although this did not affect performance – NVIDIA CMP 170HX produces a hashrate of 164 Mh / s in Ethereum mining mode at factory settings.
