Earlier, the American office of IGN urged readers to donate money to the affected residents of the autonomy (comments were prudently disabled). The administration has also updated the site’s logo, adding the flag of Palestine.
As you can understand, no one asked the opinion of the Tel Aviv office. Israeli journalists said they condemn the trick of their American colleagues, about which no one was notified.
“We at IGN Israel support the state of Israel (obviously) and support the IDF soldiers who are doing everything to keep us safe during these difficult days,” the press release said.
The Israeli office is now looking for ways to influence the American chapter to remove content that does not reflect the views of other IGN divisions. Apparently, Palestine was publicly supported only by the head office in the United States, while the rest (including IGN Russia) did not join the action.
The Israeli threats worked in part, as the Palestinian flag was removed from the American website, replacing it with the Red Cross logo. However, the fundraising in support of Palestine has not been canceled.
