IFixit has disassembled the Playdate “console with handle” – there are no gears and mechanical parts

Announcement Playdate has become one of the most exciting in the gaming industry lately. The design of the miniature console featured a colorful design in the style of portable systems. Nintendo and a unique twist grip to control the game.

Thanks to specialists from iFixit it became known that the product Panic Includes a 2.74 Wh battery (about four times the size of an iPhone 12), LCD display, and easily replaceable headphone jack. As for a knob that uses a Hall sensor, rotating it drives a cylindrical magnet, the field of which activates the sensor, providing an input signal.

The device maintainability score was 6 points out of 10 possible. There are no gears or traditional mechanical parts inside Playdate. This should prevent future console failure.
