If PS4 failed, could be the end of PlayStation – former Sony executive

In September will come out documentary “From the bedroom to billions. The PlayStation Revolution“(From Bedrooms To Billions: The PlayStation Revolution), which will feature Hideo Kojima, Mark Cerny, Shinji Mikami and other figures from the gaming industry.

The creators of the tape interviewed Shahida Ahmad, who participated in the launch of the PlayStation 4, and also played a large role in the subsequent promotion of indie on a stationary platform and portable PS Vita

The top manager worked at Sony Interactive Entertainment for ten years and left the company in 2015, leaving his position as director of strategic content.

In the film, Ahmad outlined his vision for the brand and explained how the culture change at Sony has helped the then next-generation consoles achieve “incredible success that surpassed our wildest expectations.”

Former Sony CEO Says PS3 Generation Was “Tough Time”… However, thanks to him, the SIE has gone from being an “arrogant” organization to a “humble, motivated and caring” company that released the PS4.

Ahmad notes that if it weren’t for the reorganization that led to a policy change in preparation for launch, the PS4 could have been the “end” for the platform holder.

“The PlayStation, which was born at the end of the PS3 lifecycle, was a much more determined, determined entity – I say this from a corporate perspective – than a much more arrogant organization at the beginning of the PS3 era.”

Ahmad stressed that due to the mistakes made in the PS3 era, the stakes were incredibly high. Fortunately, the PS4 has been welcomed by gamers beyond Sony’s wildest expectations.

“Even we were surprised how enthusiastically the PS4 was accepted because it was a kind of redemption,” says the former executive. “We almost got burned with the PS3.

We had to do it right, because if we didn’t, it could have caused the end of the PlayStation. “

“From the bedroom to billions. The PlayStation Revolution ”will tell the story of Sony’s gaming division, from the launch of the PlayStation in 1995 (in the US) to the current generation. The movie will be released on DVD and Blu-ray, as well as iTunes, Amazon, Vimeo and other services on September 7 in honor of the 25th anniversary of the original console.
