This was especially pronounced in the issue of film adaptations: if the adaptations of books have long been held in high esteem, then on game projects they most often put an end to absentia. In recent years, the situation has begun to change: films and TV series inspired by games have grown, and they are often liked by both loyal fans and strict critics. And new announcements continue to appear with enviable regularity: on February 17, Netflix and Valve announced the release of an anime based on Dota 2. Mortal Kombat

Restarting Mortal Kombat for large screens. The previous adaptation started in 1995 and became a dilogy, and the sequel was received much more coolly than the original. The film tells the story of Cole Young, a new hero not previously featured in the franchise. At the same time, it will not do without the “oldies”: the audience will definitely see Jax, Sonya Blade, Liu Kang, Kong Lao, Kano, Johnny Cage, Scorpio, Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung. The details of the plot remain a secret, but it is known for sure that it will not do without another tournament. Importantly, this time the age rating is “adult”, and the creators promise to show the famous fatalities in all their bloody splendor.

Another restart on the list. Following Paul W.C. Anderson’s Hexalogue of Alice (played by Milla Jovovich), the decision was made to restart the entire franchise on the big screens. The new version will be much closer to the original: the events start in 1998, viewers will be able to see the first hours of the T-virus outbreak in Raccoon City. Among the declared heroes are all the key figures of the first two games in the series: Jill Valentine, Chris and Claire Redfields, Albert Wesker, Ada Wong and Leon Kennedy. According to the cast, we can assume that the plot will unfold both on the territory of Spencer’s mansion (Resident Evil) and in Raccoon City (Resident Evil 2). Whether this is so and whether there will be a sequel, for which the creators have plans, we will find out in September – unless, of course, the release date is postponed.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune

An adaptation of the cult video game series from Naughty Dog about the adventures of adventurer Nathan Drake. This is not about direct adaptation of game plots: the film will be a prequel that tells about Drake’s youth. He will be played, by the way, by the modern Spider-Man Tom Holland, and the role of Sally went to Mark Wahlberg. The details of the plot are currently unknown, but fans assume that it will be about the acquaintance of the hero and his mentor and their first adventure together. The film has been in production hell for a long time, but now, fortunately, the main shooting has already been completed and the picture is now in post-production. The chances of seeing Drake on the big screen have grown more than ever.

Initially, the plot of the adaptation of the square game itself was supposed to tell the story of Steve – a loner who cannot find his place in his native village. Everything was supposed to change after the hero met Clank – the iron golem. The idea was eventually rejected, the release date was postponed, and almost all the people working on the film were replaced. Now “Minecraft” will become the story of a teenage girl and her small team of strange travelers, who go on the hunt for the Dragon of the Ender, bringing destruction to the cubic homeland of heroes. There are no other details at the moment, but expect the studio to remain silent for too long.
