Some happy gamers managed to snatch the long-awaited RTX-capable graphics card, but why it is not always clear. Although ray tracing is already a couple of years old, there are still not many games with full support for the technology. Cybersport.ru offers to look at a dozen of such titles – with them it will be possible to use the potential of the video card, if not to the full, then at least to a sufficient extent.

Control
The online shooter from DICE does not boast the same fine tuning as the game from Remedy, but it is capable of producing honest reflections using tracing, which significantly changes the picture quality. Alas, we are not talking about the processing of light and shadows, and the reflections themselves are present on a rather limited number of network cards. But city locations are really transformed: such a trifle as realistic reflections dramatically changes the quality of the picture for the better. However, Battlefield V was one of the first games with RTX support, so you shouldn’t be surprised at the limited functionality.
Cyberpunk 2077
Small studio KeokeN Interactive did not immediately add trace support to its fantasy thriller. But in good volume: the game has RTX reflections, improved shadows and DLSS support. Reflections, by the way, are customizable and can be applied to both opaque and transparent surfaces. That is, players, depending on the characteristics of their PC, can activate reflections only on the metal surfaces of the space base or extend them also to protective glass windows, adding realism. Shadows, of course, look much better with tracing than without.
The medium
The third part of the shooter, based on the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, boasts support for improved lighting – we are not talking about reflections here. On the other hand, tracing allows you to achieve a more realistic picture both in rooms and outside them: the shadows become denser, the lighting is more reliable, since the calculation takes into account the materials and detailed geometry of objects. According to the developers, tracing improves the atmosphere of Metro through detailed play of light and shadow, which can be called cinematic.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Id Software’s games have always been renowned for their technological advancements. Quake II on release required a dedicated graphics accelerator, and its improved version required an RTX graphics card. At the same time, it turned out to be much more demanding than many other games on the list due to the use of Path Tracing – a method for calculating lighting that is entirely based on tracing. The game offers fine-tuning of global illumination, enabling caustics, high dynamic range and volumetric beams simulation. In the presence of improved textures, models of weapons and characters, as well as fine-tuning the time of day – the latter affects the lighting of the levels.
Shadow of the tomb raider
The last part of the series of action games about hackers added not only a unique feature with the absence of a protagonist, but also support for RTX. From the latter, there are reflections using tracing and the already familiar DLSS technology. The game was clearly created with an eye to showing gamers the full power of the new technology: there are really a lot of reflective surfaces in London in the near future, and in some places the picture looks frighteningly close to photorealism. True, beauty comes at a price – even the RTX 3080 Ti might not be enough for maximum settings.
