On April 11, the transfer window was closed, within which Dota 2 teams could make substitutions in their rosters. There was no global reshuffle after the first Major, but the teams did make a few point and rather loud rearrangements. In football, there is a tradition, after each transfer window, to rank the clubs based on the results of the permutations. Cybersport.ru decided to evaluate the main changes that have taken place in the compositions from Europe and the CIS.

All the ratings below are the subjective opinion of the author. Below I tried to assess the strength of the new teams “on paper” – in real conditions, each of them can show itself in a completely different way. It is important to understand that the ratings of the clubs do not need to be compared with each other: high scores only show how much the new roster has become stronger than the previous one.

NAVI

  • Gone: GeneRaL
  • Came: RAMZES666

Replacing GeneRaL with RAMZES666 is the loudest transfer in the CIS this season. Let’s put aside conversations about the moral side of the issue – “the boy’s word”, the NAVI video and the statements of ALWAYSWANNAFLY on Instagram. NAVI got a strong, experienced and media player, but probably not the best “top three” in the CIS. Therefore, there is no need to talk about strengthening a specific position. RAMZES666 should not only close the offlane position, but also take on the role of an in-game leader, since he has such experience. Although most of the community remembered Kushnaryov as a caller only with the phrase “Guys-Guys-Guys”, judging by the words of other professional players, he knows how to manage the actions of the team in a match. This is a plus for NAVI, which means that they coped with one of the tasks. Is RAMZES666 the person who is able to establish communication outside of Dota, raise team morale and resolve conflicts? Probably not.

Now let’s take a look at the media issue. The situation here turned out to be twofold. On the one hand, NAVI received the most popular doter in the CIS for free, to which both fans and advertisers are drawn. On the other hand, the transfer of Kushnarev (and the departure of GeneRaL) was so ridiculously and ineptly served by the community that the ensuing wave of negativity in a certain sense neutralized the bonuses from the media significance of RAMZES666 – at least over a short distance. Only the second season of the DPC will show how successful this transfer will turn out to be in terms of gameplay, however, it is still impossible to call this replacement a failure or, on the contrary, extremely profitable.

OG

  • Gone: Midone
  • Came: ana

After the departure of ana and JerAx, the team was never able to find the right combination of players to create the chemistry that has always characterized the roster. And if Saksa didn’t spoil the pictures, Mid0ne couldn’t fully adapt to the aggressive and reckless style of OG, although he tried very hard (sometimes even successfully). The third coming of ana was the most logical decision: Fam has already become a kind of fairytale hero for OG, who at the right moment rises from the stove to save the world. It is not so important what form ana is in now, the main thing is that it will return the team’s confidence in their own abilities (or that it is a good idea to push opponents in the fountain when T2 is still standing). Without this confidence and absolute understanding, OG’s roster simply doesn’t work. With this transfer, the club gave hundreds of thousands of fans hope for another fairy tale. Even if we fail to take the third The International in a row, the team will surely be transformed. Therefore, if there is an ideal transfer in nature, then OG carried it out.

Nigma

  • Gone: w33
  • Came: iLTW

W33’s departure from Nigma has been asking for a long time – Omar’s performance has been as dim as possible in recent months. Moreover, w33 not only performed poorly, but also often made mistakes in key moments, so his departure hardly surprised anyone. However, the replacement for iLTW was definitely a surprise. Yes, now there are not so many free first-position players on the market, but, probably, many expected to see SumaiL, not Filatov.

iLTW. Source: Starladder

iLTW is a strong solo player who performs well in matchmaking, but much weaker in teams on the professional scene. Nigma probably wants to go back to the model where the whole game is built around Miracle- and the second core acts as a helper. This worked great with MATUMBAMAN, but iLTW is a slightly different kind of player. He is used to playing on greedy carries who are given time and space. In his pool of characters, the conditional Timbersaw, Necrophos, Windranger or other utility cores rarely appear. Therefore, on paper, iLTW does not look like the missing puzzle in the Nigma mosaic – it rather looks like a solid backup plan, which this time had to be activated for lack of a better one.

NoTechies

  • Left: Crystallize, Malik, Zayac, Ergon
  • Came: XSvamp1Re, layme, DkFogas, 19teen

In the new season, Solo completely rebuilt the NoTechies roster, and this looks like a completely logical decision, considering that in the last matches of the first division, the team was simply absent from the map. Berezin abandoned experienced veterans of the scene like Crystallize and relied on young and promising ones. Although XSvamp1Re and 19teen lingered a bit in the status of “promising”, the guys have quite a lot of potential. Layme is not at all known to the wide community as a puber who has 30th rank in the ladder. Judging by his streams, the new carry of the roster has a wide pool of heroes and he is not afraid to lead the team’s actions, however, sometimes he is too emotional and allows himself too much in the matchmaking chat. For such a young roster, Solo can be the perfect mentor. In a team where Berezin’s authority will be unconditional, he can re-emerge as a strong leader who is able to assemble a team from scratch. Therefore, it will be interesting to watch the new NoTechies roster play.

Team Unique

  • Gone: Pikachu
  • Came: fn

Team Unique made a competent spot substitution in position – fn is much more experienced than Pikachu and looks more confident and stable. However, the success of fn’s performance will largely depend on his motivation: after all, Team Unique looks like a downgrade after AS Monaco Gambit. And, judging by Lozovoy’s career, his relationship with Unique will not last long – it is likely that after the second season (unless, of course, the team qualifies for a major), he will leave the roster. However, if we consider the situation here and now, then the transfer fn is an excellent move for the team, which will significantly strengthen its position in the league. But will Lozovoy help Team Unique reach the top 3 in the first division? Unlikely.

HellRaisers

  • Gone: VANSKOR
  • Came: Zayac

The replacement of VANSKOR, frankly, was obvious. HR failed the first season, staying in the second division and leaving behind PuckChamp and Winstrike. It seemed that replacing VANSKOR with any more or less stable “five” – and the transfer campaign could be called successful. However, the club chose Zayac, and this decision raises questions. Firstly, Emilzhanov, to put it mildly, is not in the best shape: it will be difficult to add his performances for NoTechies to an asset. Secondly, Zayac is a “four”, so lil me alone had to move to the fifth position. And while this castling does not inspire confidence in the result.

Team empire

  • Left: EcNart, gwynbleidd
  • Came: VANSKOR, depressed kid

After relegation from the first DPC division, it was expected that there would be replacements in Team Empire. The team clearly needed a leader who would organize and streamline the team’s play. In this regard, the signing of an experienced e-sportsman looks like a logical decision, however, VANSKOR’s game form raises many questions, and Team Empire had to buy out his contract from HR. Even if we are talking about a small amount, the investment is rather dubious. Replacing the mid lane doesn’t look like a panacea either. Gwynbleidd showed a good level and pulled the team in some matches. Depressed kid is a promising 16-year-old puber with 185 rank in the ladder. He has practically no experience on the professional stage, apart from playing for the RUSSIANDRILL mix at EPIC League Season 3, where the team won only one match out of four. Depressed kid may well become the new RAMZES666 or gpK ~, but it is hardly worth waiting for results from him here and now. For Team Empire, this is a groundwork for the future, but in the second season the team will clearly be extremely difficult.

B8

  • Left: RdO, Duster, Sexyfat
  • Came: Watson, nofear, Time in Nowhere

Transfer perturbations in B8 have become such a frequent occurrence that they are no longer able to surprise anyone. At the same time, each new roster, from an ideological point of view, is not much different from the previous one – the team does not have a style or a pool of simulated strategies. It happened this time too. This is not to say that Dendi changed weak players for strong ones, rather he again shuffled the deck of available esportsmen and pulled out new cards from there. Will something change with the arrival of nofear, who was not much remembered for playing for XactJlepbI? I doubt it. Also, B8 was unlucky that she lost a player shortly before the rosterlock – DkFogas moved to NoTechies.

It’s great that Ishutin brought up young players to the roster, and did not begin to recruit a stack of veterans, but without a leader and a captain, they are unlikely to be able to reveal themselves. Well, Dendi himself, by tradition, retained the second position. Probably, the results of the last season B8 will also “keep” in the new one.
