How to start an indoor fire in Valheim

Survival mechanics Valheim is designed in such a way that the character needs not only food and water, but also sleep near the source of fire. If the character sleeps warm, he gains a significant bonus to the level of comfort. Therefore, when building a dwelling, players place a hearth or fireplace near their bed. However, then many of them are faced with the problem of filling the room with smoke. As a result, the character suffocates and may die.

The most obvious solution is to build a chimney to deal effectively with smoke. But this is not always enough, since during bad weather rain falls into the chimney and extinguishes the fire. Here, many players turn to the realities of our world, and apply solutions used by people since ancient times. In particular, one of the easiest options is to make a small canopy over the pipe.

Others think about heating the house already at the design stage, and immediately lay a place for the hearth, and also allocate space for the chimney. One of the options is the angular placement of the fireplace – so it does not take up much space, and its overlap is quite simple to create. On the roof slope, you need to raise one section and put supports under it.

Another popular option is the long house design that Scandinavian peoples have used for centuries. In this version, some of the smoke still remains in the house, but it is not fatal to the character. In this version, ventilation holes are left at the top of the side walls under the ridge (central gable roof beam), or in the center of the roof with an additional canopy.
