Players and journalists agree that the inability to save before going to Returnal seems like a very strange limitation – in other games of the genre this is avoided.
Even in Hades, where a full run can take about 30 minutes, the game quietly saves progress when exiting in the middle of a run – however, in Returnal, when you exit the game during a run, there is no save, but you have to start from the very beginning. In this case, one passage can take 2-3 hours.
Many people call this a strange and artificial limitation – when starting the game, by the way, they warn about this, noting that players can hibernate the console with a running project – so they can return to the passage in the same place.
However, for example, if in the middle of a race you want to play something different – for example, Call of duty with friends, you will either have to say goodbye to all the progress for the race, or try to finish the game.
It’s funny, but heated discussions have already unfolded in the comments. Someone writes that it is necessary to finish the game faster, until, under the yoke of casuals, it is not simplified, while others are perplexed – how the ability to make a temporary save will generally affect the complexity.
