Developers from the studio Team Cherry talked to editions EDGE and shared new details of the long-awaited metroidvania Hollow Knight: Silksong… At launch, the game will only be available on Nintendo Switch and PC…
- Structurally and in terms of gameplay, Silksong is very similar to the original Hollow Knight, but Hornet’s unique abilities bring a new dynamic to the gameplay. For example, moving around locations now feels faster and more graceful.
- The game begins with Hornet losing some of his skills. In the process of passing you have to again master them all, enlisting the support of the weaver spiders.
- Compared to the world from the original game, the world of Farlum from Silksong is larger in every sense. The main character is taller than the Knight from the first game, but she can move faster and has various unique acrobatic skills, so the developers spent a lot of time creating more spacious locations. They also paid great attention to detail and interactivity of the environment. For example, players will be able to see how tiny beetles gather berries.
- Silksong was originally planned as an addition to the original Hollow Knight, but there were so many innovations and changes for it that they decided to turn it into a full-fledged new game.
- Hornet’s speed and agility have a direct impact on opponents – they are created much more frisky and aggressive in order to set the right pace for the fights.
- In terms of complexity, Silksong is designed to be both welcoming to a new audience and interesting to those users who have spent dozens of hours at Hollow Knight.
- Instead of amulets, Hornet will have so-called “emblems” with a different number of slots for equipping items. With the change of emblems, the set of attacks changes and changes are made to the interface. Items are divided into accessories with passive effects and consumables used in battles.
- Items can be crafted at save locations from shards that fall from defeated enemies. Hornet is able to memorize the structure of things and weapons used by opponents against her, and independently craft them for herself. The developers have confirmed the presence of various traps, boomerangs, bombs and knives in the game.
- Composer Christopher Larkin, who wrote the music for the original Hollow Knight, is back – he is responsible for the soundtrack of Silksong.
- The progress of some additional tasks can be monitored through a special notice board. The game will not lose the traditional narrative lines that develop naturally.
- For completing additional tasks Hornet receives beads – virtual currency for purchases in stores. You can also make a necklace from beads.
- Hornet’s central mission is to reach the top of the Citadel, but on the way to her goal, the heroine will also visit other interesting places.
- In the plot, Hornet takes an active role – she is a well-written character with a clear motivation and actively participating in the events taking place.
- When the release takes place, the developers cannot yet tell…
As part of a conversation with EDGE team Team Cherry also confirmed that her next project will not be related to the universe Hollow knight – developers want to do something new.
Original release Hollow knight took place in 2017.
