Company Microsoft and studio The coalition officially announced Hivebusters – plot add-on for action Gears 5… The developers do not give many details, but they noted that a small hint of the extension is contained in its name. Apparently, the main persons of the DLC will be Poppy, Keegan and Lani from the hive destroyer team “Scorpio“that appeared in the co-op Escape… The heroes were not featured in the original Gears 5 campaign, but their origin story is told in the Gears of War: Hivebusters comic.
Gears 5: Hivebusters will release this December on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC. The duration of the expansion will be 3-4 hours, but it is not yet known whether it will be paid or free… This and other details will be announced in early December.
According to The Coalition CTO Mike Reiner, the story DLC for Gears 5 is the first project in the franchise to be built from the ground up with next-gen consoles in mind, and does not adapt to them with subsequent updates.
Talking about the latter, the studio said that 10th November, along with the launch of new consoles, a massive free update will be released for Gears 5, which will add to the game:
- Mode New Game +;
- Two new difficulty levels Ironman and Inconceivable;
- New skins of weapons and characters;
- Mutators (big head mode and so on);
- New achievements;
- Look Dave Batista for Marcus Phoenix in a singleplayer with the character’s lines re-voiced by the actor;
- 120 FPS in multiplayer on Series X / S;
- Reduced input lag on Series X / S;
- Visual improvements on Series X (contact shadows, screen space global illumination, speed cutscenes 60 frames per second etc);
